Principal Flutist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Jin Ta is a winner of numerous international music competitions. He was the first prize winner in the Boston Pappoutsakies Memorial Foundation Competition and the Memphis Young Artist Competition in the USA, and the 2000 Haifa International Flute Competition in Israel. Jin Ta performs and conducts master classes regularly.

He started learning music at the age of five, and later entered the Beijing Central Music Conservatory to study flute under Professor Zhu Tong De. In 1991, Mr Jin became a student of Professor Keith Bryan, and later, Professor Leone Buyse while studying at the University of Michigan. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Mr Jin went on to Boston’s New England Conservatory for graduate studies with Fenwick Smith. In 1997, Mr Jin studied as an artist diploma candidate with renowned American flutist Paula Robison.
Mr Jin has performed extensively throughout the Boston area and has also won numerous national and international competitions. Among those are the Flute Talk Competition, the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, Pappoutsakies Memorial Foundation Competition and the Memphis Young Artist Competition, the last two of which he was the winner of first prize. Most recently, Mr Jin won the first prize in the 2000 Haifa International Flute Competition (Israel).
The National Repertoire Orchestra (Colorado), Springfield Orchestra (Massachusetts), Shenzhen Symphony, Xiamen Symphony, the US Capital Wind Orchestra, and the Pacific Music Festival (Japan) are just some of the orchestras and music festivals Jin Ta has performed with. An enthusiastic performer and educator, he successfully toured Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and held master classes at the Central Music Conservatory, Shanghai Music Conservatory and Shenzhen School of Fine Arts.
